Renault has released World Series Limited Editions of the Clio and Megane
The World Series Limited Editions are based on the Dynamique trim level, but throw in a chunk of extra kit to make these World Series Limited Editions. The Renault Clio World Series gets side skirts, an extended front spoiler, new back bumper and the required ‘WSR’ badges. You get an engine choice – the 1.2 litre 75, the nTCe 100 or the dCI oil-burner.
Lotus Evora Freddie Mercury Edition
We really weren’t too sure when we got a press release drop in that said “Another Lotus Bites The Dust…” and then went on to say that Lotus are building a one-off Lotus Evora S Freddie Mercury Edition to be auctioned for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. We thought it was a spoof. We decided it was almost certainly a spoof when the press release went on to say that the Freddie Mercury Edition Evora “…represents a kind of magic” and that the white, red and gold colour scheme was “…inspired by the iconic costume Freddie wore for the 1986 Magic tour”.
The world’s first production plug-in diesel hybrid – the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid – has gone in to production ahead of customer deliveries. Volvo are producing just 1,000 2013 V60 plug-ins, but are aiming to up production to between 4-6,000 a year from the 2014 model year and, despite the problems of integrating the V60′s complicated electric stuff in to a production car, the V60 plug-in is rolling down the same production line as the regular V60, V70, S80 and XC90. That complicated stuff includes two different powertrains and a battery pack – enough for up to 32 miles as an EV only – and a total of 300 additional parts compared to a regular ICE V60.
